To quote Hippocrates, called by many the father of modern medicine, who said 2500 years ago 'All disease begins in the gut'. He then largely believed that illness should not be seen as punishment from the gods but as a result of diet and lifestyle. That illness would be a punishment in some way may not worry us as much in today's world, but that illness is a result of lifestyle and what we eat is just as relevant today as it was then. If illness often begins in the stomach, perhaps that is where we should begin our path to a healthier life.
