Testosterone is a sex hormone that has a major impact on men throughout their lives and is perhaps best known for sexual drive, maintaining erectile ability and the ability to maintain muscle mass and strength in the skeleton. What many may not know, however, is that testosterone also has a large importance for our general health where it, among other things, controls the distribution of body fat, mood and oxygenation of the blood.

Testosterone levels naturally decrease around the age of 40. This happens naturally and usually does not negatively affect the body or mood. The majority of healthy men, even older ones, have normal levels of testosterone.
